Looking for some legit leads where I could find the best value for about 30k. Should I opt for the best unit config within the budget? Opt for the bare essential configuration then choose combinations of accessories and other must-haves? Preferably with physical stores sa East or perhaps around Greenhills. Planning to go hunting this Saturday. Thank you in advance!

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 92%. (I'm a bot)
Video footage from a drone flying down a street in Antakya's Old City, which is covered in rubble and surrounded by collapsed buildings.
Called Saray Street by locals, this stretch was once lined with more than 70 shops, restaurants and other businesses.
"This area had its own aura, you know, its own life," said Dr. Ilke Eraslan, 24, who frequented the restaurant.
The destruction on Saray Street is a fraction of all that was lost in Old City.
Beyond its shops and restaurants, Old City had some of the most important and oldest religious and cultural institutions.
"Here, there's a church, there's a mosque, and there's a synagogue," said Ozgur Akseven, 34, who owned Eva Lounge Cafe, a restaurant with live music near Saray Street.

2023.03.23 20:35 Abseus Tips for the Egg-Splosive Hunt Event ( My Way )

Tips for the Egg-Splosive Hunt Event ( My Way )
How to get eggs fast? Cars and buses are your friend!
To maximize the use of your eggs as must as you can just use Decoys and Bait to gather as many zombies in one place as you can.
Start killing the zombies with the old way of the parking lot northside of the Jack & Joe's Camp. After killing them just go away for a lil bit then come back, they should respawn. Other than that keep following the red path i've drawn for killing zombies and especially for finding cars and buses. Don't forget to loot the zombies too along the way.
Also you can farm at night for golden eggs from Volatiles but didn't seem to me to be the best way.
My way may not be the best but this is what worked for me and i finished the event pretty quickly. Happy hunting!

2023.03.23 20:30 Telletic Detective You've Got A Letter

The rain fell relentlessly against the windows of the briefing room as the group of detectives gathered in somber silence. They were a desperate group, each chosen for their unique skill set and unwavering dedication to the job. But this mission was unlike any they had ever been assigned before. It was a mission that would require them to confront the most powerful, dangerous, and deranged beings in the world, beings that had the power to destroy everything they held dear.
The Commissioner, a man with a steely gaze and a voice that commanded respect, stood before them. "I won't sugarcoat it," he said. "This mission is the most dangerous you've ever undertaken. You're up against foes who possess abilities that defy human comprehension, and who can wipe you out with a thought. But you've been given a job to do, and you will do it to the best of your abilities."
The room was silent as the leader passed out the mission briefing. Each detective read through it carefully, absorbing the details of their targets and the potential risks of their mission. The gravity of the task at hand weighed heavily on them all.
"They won't hesitate to kill you, and they won't show mercy. But you have a job to do, and you'll do it with the utmost professionalism and skill. Failure is not an option."
As the group left the briefing room and prepared to embark on their mission, a sense of unease hung heavy in the air. This was a mission that would push them to their limits, both physically and emotionally. But they were determined to see it through, no matter the cost.

2023.03.23 20:27 Ready-Ad-4549 Just the Right Bullets lyrics meaning - Tom Waits

[Anti-Christ heroin speaking to Christ cocaine]
There is a light (Red 1) in the forest (White 4)
There is a face (Blue 2) in the tree (Grey 5)
I'll pull (Grey 5)
you out (White 4) of the chorus (Blue 2)
And the first one's (Blue 2) always free (White 4)

You can never go (Grey 5) hunting (Grey 5)
With just (White 4)
a flintlock (Grey 5) and a hound (Grey 5)
You won't go (White 4)
home (Grey 5) with a bunting (White 4)
If you blow (White 4) a hundred rounds (Grey 5)

It takes (Grey 5)
much more (White 4) than wild courage (Grey 5)
Or you'll hit (Grey 5)
just the (White 4) tattered clouds (White 4)
You must have (Grey 5)
just the right (White 4) bullets (Grey 5)
And the first one's (Blue 2) always free (White 4)

You must be (White 4)
careful (White 4) in the forest (White 4)
Broken glass (White 4) and rusty nails (Grey 5)
If you're to (White 4) bring back (White 4)
something (White 4) for us (Grey 5)
I have bullets (Grey 5) for sale (White 4)

Why (Red 1) be a fool (Blue 2)
when you can (White 4) chase away (Grey 5)
Your blind (White 4) and your gloom (Grey 5)
I (Grey 5) have blessed (White 4)
each one (White 4) of these bullets (Grey 5)
And they shine (White 4) just like a spoon (Grey 5)

To have sixty (Grey 5) silver wishes (White 4)
Is a small price (Grey 5) to pay (White 4)
They'll be your private (Grey 5) little fishes (White 4)
And they'll never (Grey 5) swim away (White 4)

I just want (White 4)
you (White 4) to be happy (White 4)
That's my (Grey 5) only wish (Grey 5)
I'll fix (White 4)
your wagon (Grey 5) and your musket (Grey 5)
And the spoon (Grey 5) will have his dish (White 4)

And I (Grey 5)
shudder (White 4) at the thought (White 4)
of your (White 4)
Poor (Blue 2) empty (White 4) hunter's pouch (Grey 5)
So I'll keep (Grey 5) the wind (Blue 2) from your barrel (Grey 5)
And bless (White 4) the roof (Grey 5) of your house (White 4)

2023.03.23 20:22 InsuredApple Looking for a pilot buddy to fly with (and hopefully not crash)

Hey fellow aviation enthusiasts,
I'm a certified pilot with a commercial multi-engine license and an instrument rating, but don't let that intimidate you. I may have flown a couple hundred hours, but I still get nervous when I hit turbulence (not really). That being said, I'm currently in West Palm Beach, Florida and looking for a pilot buddy to fly with me (and hopefully not crash).
I speak both German and English fluently, so I can help you order a schnitzel while we're up in the air. Plus, I'm always down for a good conversation, especially if it's about planes or Top Gun.
Now, here's the best part: I'll cover my own travel expenses and won't ask for any payment. I just want to fly and have fun while doing it. So if you have your own airplane and need someone to ride shotgun, let me know! Just be prepared for some bad jokes and potentially embarrassing moments.
So what do you say, let's take to the skies and see if we can't find our wings (figuratively, of course). Shoot me a message if you're interested, and we'll see if we can't make some aviation magic happen.

2023.03.23 20:13 Shadowrider1509 I think I found a place for a 3 gun/small gun match

I found a place, in south-central Wisconsin, with a 180 degree range (360 degree berm). I think they would be receptive to hosting a 3G/SG or 2G match. Handguns and rifles limited to .17HMR, .22 shorties. .22LR and .22 magnum. Shotgun limited to .410.
Factoring in travel, lodging, fuel, and ammo, how much would you pay to participate i.e. how much is too much to register for such an event?

2023.03.23 19:52 Briarche Collecting Sauna Rocks in the Wild

I plan to go hunting for sauna rocks this spring.
Any advice? Any links to rock identification info?
It looks like the standard advice is:
I have seen mixed opinions- Trumpkins notes seems to indicate if they're not quarried from underground they could be contaminated with organic material- although I would expect any organics to burn off in the fire.
I see many people in the community seem happy collecting granite river stones and have had success with them
I understand the best sauna stones are peridotite and olivine, but I believe they are only found underground and need to be mined.

I have a Huum drop, and don't trust the Huum stones to hold up over time after what I've seen on here. I'd like to collect rocks over time and gradually change out the Huum ones.

I know its easier to buy them, but the shipping makes them insanely expensive here.

I have a few places in mind to look. I live on the Canadian shield, which is primarily igneous. This area is covered in rocks leftover from the last glacier. Everything from stones to boulders were deposited across Ontario in the last ice age, and alot of these stones were collected and piled by the first farmers to clear the land.
The landscape centers here also sell colored river rock in the 2-4" range, they are rounded, not sure where they come from but they look like granite.

2023.03.23 19:49 JoJoBennyC Enjoying the re-grind after setbacks

I've littered Moder mountain with a number of graves with all my best kit, There's a decent set of wolf silver gear up there, plus iron, bronze and a few recovery kits of troll armour and basic weapons.
I screwed up the fight, lost the gear I could face her for melee with, and now I'm getting one-shotted as soon as she spots me. I got about 10 metres from a grave when she sprang on me last time... tried to out run her, but no chance.
Found myself with stone axes and deer hide clothing. So I've decided to take my time, build back up through bronze, maybe skip most of iron if I can, and then when I feel as though I can face the occasional wolfie, I'll get back after some silver.
The good news is, I have Haldor's belt, plenty of good food - wolf kebabs, sausages etc and odds and sods of materials left over, so iron banded shield etc. This is making grinding for bronze fairly easy - 2 days work has gotten me 40+ copper and 20+ tin, so shouldn't be long to grab a couple of things from the bronze age. Then I can get into a crypt, grab some iron and make a pickaxe. Then I can go grab silver. All good.
The bad news - my tamed lox is wandering the plains alone - I don't go there for a while yet, even to check on crops. And sooner or later the events are going to roll in. Really not fancying facing off against "you are being hunted" with just a chitin knife.
It does also remind me how tough I found each of these stages the first time through. I've not played games like this much, and combat skills took a while to grow. Weird being back at that stage where so much stuff was a challenge, or flat out run away, that later become comfortable fodder, and a useful source of materials. For those new to it, keep going. You will master each biome, and find the right techniques and materials for the next.
Right, that furnace should have churned out some more tin by now... back to it!

2023.03.23 19:49 PallHoepf Money makes the world go around

It is actually simple. SG generates quite an amount of money … a huge amount actually. Nobody says that, amongst SGs adherents, there are no unpraised “heroes”, who do work for the community, the society outside the SG bubble. If we look at SGs own view of the world they must be dashing out those heroes like mad – this is not the case though, as if you do decide to become very active in SG it won’t leave you with enough time to do other things – besides working and SG. There is no rocket science needed to understand why there are so many dysfunctional SG-families. SG adherents only have 24 hours available per day, just like anyone else. If you do have a job, household chores AND SG activities well that’s what is left for family life and friends. I am no longer an SG adherent and getting older I find that time is such a valuable thing … especially finding time for myself and NOBODY else. Back to the money issue. There are so many estimates on what SG is worth financially … what can be said is that it is not poor. Again, there is NO FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY in SG. If all those who call and praise themselves as members of SG would get an annual report about the organisation’s assets and where the money is being invested nobody would say a thing – this is not the case though, as you are not members … just followers, adherents giving money and time ... YOU are NOT MEMBERS! I am unfamiliar with the situation in the US, but at least in Europe most public entities are facing growing pressure to disclose their financial situation, also to disclose where (public) money is being invested. Even religious organisations face this (in my eyes quite rightfully) pressure by their MEMBERS. So what do SG adherents do? They praise themselves being buddhas and bodhisattvas of the earth and having the best mentor since the invention of sliced bread (Is he still alive? Ahhh just shut up and praise him). Within this self-declared lay movement there is no room for questioning. I can only speak from a European, German point of view – any Christian congregation has more say and influence than so called members of SG. The younger generations face issues like climate change, war, refugee crisis and quite rightfully are asking questions. SG is offering no answers whatsoever. SG does what they are good at … glorying themselves. BTW I would be utterly ashamed to even put online the amount of money you guys graciously gave to victims of the Turkey earthquake. You even do have the guts to praise yourself for opening the doors of your so called culture centres in Japan after the earthquake in 2011 … it makes me SICK. There once was a comedian in Germany who once divided the world into two parts … there are assholes and non-assholes.

2023.03.23 19:48 MjolnirPants Jerry and the Apocalypse: Part 55

Part 54
Gary Johnson, Sleepy and Therefore Grumpy. And Armed. Always Armed.
It was Radar's whining that woke him up this time. He'd been having trouble sleeping for the past few nights, ever since his two proteges went off in search of blood, leaving behind a maimed god and a metric shit-ton of panic.
He gently lifted Chris' arm from his waist and slid out of the bed, padding on bare feet over to where his daughter, Natalie, slept. Assuring himself that she was fine, he pulled on a pair of sweat pants and stepped into his boots, not bothering to lace them up. Then he walked outside, Radar sticking close to him, still whining.
Once the door of his extra-dimensional 'tent' had closed behind him, Gary knelt down to embrace the whining mass of tentacles, bathed in black smoke. He found the body at the center, wrapping his arms around the thick rib cage and letting Radar's many tongues seek out flesh to lick.
"What's wrong, boy?" he asked. Radar continued to whine and lick him frantically. Gary recognized it as self-soothing behavior. Something was upsetting his chthonic, tentacled hound.
"Radar," he said sharply, getting the beast's attention. "What is it?" he asked. Radar was a smart creature, smarter than a dog, in any case. Gary honestly believe that he understood most of what was said to him, if not all of it.
Radar reluctantly pulled out of Gary's embrace and bounded away, stopping after a few feet to turn about a dozen eyestalks back to focus on Gary. Gary followed.
Radar led him to Sookie's tent. Gary knocked, gently at first, hoping everything was all right. Radar whined some more, sending forth a couple of tentacles that ended in dog-like noses to sniff at the door.
It opened after a second to reveal Ningur, who gawked at him and Radar. "Hi, uh, come in, Sookie's not doing well..."
Gary heard another voice from behind her, pleading, "Please open the door, Sookie!" He stepped in. "What's happening?"
Ningur shrugged, her wings flexing slightly and her tail flicking around like that of an agitated cat. "I don't know. We were doing gay shit and then Sookie got upset and locked herself in the shower and Mot's trying to get her out but Sookie won't open the door and Mot's afraid to break the glass because she thinks it might hurt Sookie."
Gary listened. "Gay shit?" he asked. Ningur nodded. "That's what Sookie called it. We were licking each other's-" Gary cut her off with a raised hand. "Got it."
He stepped around Ningur and took in the scene. Sookie, like many others, had made changes to her 'tent', and the main room was now an L-shape. Posters, of the movies and television shows Sookie loved, as well as those she produced, including The Legend of Jimmy, bedecked the walls, hemming in display cases full of dildos that ranged from the mundane to the bizarre.
He stepped forward to see around the corner, and found Mot, nude and sitting with her back to a clear glass door that was currently fogged over, head in her hands and frustration evident in her posture.
"What happened?" Gary asked again. Mot looked up at him and he saw relief wash over her. She stood and stepped right up to him, speaking quietly.
"I'm so glad you're here. The three of us were, like, fooling around when Sookie just started crying and ran into the shower. I don't know what she's doing in there, but I'm afraid for her. I thought about breaking the door, but after losing my divinity while I was in a manifestation, I'm mortal, and I know she won't heal from wounds made by a mortal."
"Huh," Gary said. "I don't know if that'd work. You gotta be trying to hurt her in order to do any real damage. But I bet I know what she's doing in there."
Mot winced. "Shit-tits," she muttered. "This is why I'm glad you're here. Ningur's a sweet thing, but she's kinda useless in an emergency..."
"Ayup," Gary said, moving past her. He raised a fist and shattered the glass of the door with a hard rap. It collapsed into a mass of tiny pebbles, like safety glass, to reveal a cloud of steam that bellowed out into the room. He stepped over the pile of glass and his eyes focused on Sookie.
She was sitting against one wall with her knees up, under the water which had been turned all the way hot. Both hands were hidden behind her legs, buried in her crotch, and she was making a soft mewling sound. Gary could see the muscles in her forearms working. He stepped over and grabbed her by both arms, hoisting her up. As he did, he could see the claws buried deep in her flesh. He gave her a little shake, knocking them free, then tossed her over one shoulder and turned to carry her out.
"Turn the water off, will ya?" he asked Mot as he walked to the intersection of the two wings of the room, where Sookie's large, four-poster bed stood. He gently set her down on the edge of it, then took a seat next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder.
Sookie dropped a hand on her own leg and clawed furrows into it that began to heal immediately. Gary grabbed both of her small hands in one of his large mitts and held tight to them. "That's enough," he said. When she didn't respond, he took his arm off her shoulders and grabbed her chin, turning her face to his.
"Talk to me, babe'," he said.
Sookie blinked at him, then shook her head and began to sob. Gary let go of her chin, hugging her to him again. Mot approached and sat on her other side. Gary flashed her a look, then made a beckoning gesture with his head, so Mot put her own arm around Sookie and leaned into her.
"Whatever's wrong," Gary said. "You ain't got to handle it alone. All you gotta do is talk to us, you hear me?"
He let her cry for a bit longer as Mot simply hugged her and Ningur sat on the floor in front, her face twisted in confusion and sympathy. She cried for several minutes before her sobs began to relent.
"I miss her," she said after a while.
"Inanna?" Gary asked, and Sookie nodded.
"She used to come visit me," she said, sniffling and wiping at her cheeks. "Back when she first woke up. She'd tell me about Jerry and Sarisa, and I'd tell her about things that happened while she was asleep. She was the first one to... To speak to me, to be nice to me, after I left Nibiru. I had spent centuries there, thinking she'd hate me, but when I finally left... She was the only friend I had. I met Ishantee later, and we were never all that close until after she woke up, a few years ago. But Inanna was... She was my best friend."
"I know, darlin'," Gary said. "She was a beautiful lady, and I ain't just talking about looks."
"You probably think I'm a basketcase," Sookie said ruefully. Gary shook his head.
"Naw, girl."
He let her hands go and lifted her chin. "I know y'are," he added with a wink. Sookie snorted, coughed, and then laughed.
"Don't make fun of me," she complained.
Gary poked her gently in the ribs, making her squirm. "Sorry babe, that's one request I can't do."
Sookie giggled, then leaned her head against him. "Thank you, Gary."
"Ain't nothing. It were Radar what let me know something was off."
Radar, who'd been laying on the floor, watching them with all of his eyestalks, perked up at the mention of his name. Sookie held out her arms to him, and he bounded over to wrap tentacles around her legs and whine softly as she rubbed him.
"Thank you, Radar," she said.
She turned her head, "And thank you, too, Mot."
"I just can't handle all the emotional stuff," Mot said with feigned disinterest. "Gotta put an end to it."
Sookie poked her in turn, eliciting a girlish squeal. Gary glanced at Ningur, who still seemed a little confused (which he was beginning to suspect was par for the course with this one), but was smiling a small, uncertain smile.
"I'm sorry I ruined our fun," Sookie said to both of the other women. "It's fine," Mot said.
"Was it something I did?" Ningur asked.
"No, sweetie, not at all," Sookie told her. "It was that council, today. I sat in on it and it... It worried me."
"Council?" Gary asked. He hadn't been aware of any such thing. The war was progressing, and at a decent clip, under the established strategy. The human military was steadily encroaching on the primordial's territory, pushing back the zombies and spidercrabs, as they'd come to be known. They were even able to take out a primordial in a pinch, using the M1028 rounds and multiple tanks. Gary almost winced at the memory of watching it; four tanks firing what amounted to enormous shotgun shells at a mass of writhing tentacles fifty times the size of one of the tanks, and the ensuing mess that caused.
Things were getting harder, as predicted, and their progress was slowing as each primordial became more difficult to kill, but Jane was still predicting a victory in about two weeks, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Though she had warned that 'unforeseen circumstances' remained a possibility, as her domain did not give her insight into what the primordials themselves knew. What lay beyond the yawning abyss of ginungagap was a mystery.
So there'd been no need for any planning sessions, so far. They couldn't plan for what they couldn't know, and they didn't need to plan any more for what they did no.
Sookie nodded. "They were discussing Jerry."
"Shit," Gary swore. He knew something like this was bound to happen, eventually. After Tysrane had shown up, missing a hand and incapable of regrowing it, it was inevitable that the gods would get their panties in a wad.
"So what happened?" he asked.
Sookie sucked in a deep breath and massaged her thighs for a moment. "It was pretty bad. They met to discuss what happened to Tysrane, and what to do about Jerry.
"They're scared, Gary. All of them, even Yarm. And Jane... When they asked, she told them everything. That Jerry has the ability to kill a god, now. You know, death has never been a real worry to us. What happened to Ultris..." She stopped speaking for a moment to tamp down on the old wound, still ragged and bleeding, so many thousands of years later. After a moment, she went on.
"What happened to Ultris, it took four of them, with Astoram dipping into some dark, dark magic. There was a confluence as well... I don't know all of it, and even explaining what I do know would take hours, but it's not something that anyone, even Sarisa, thought could be done again. It was a fluke, a freak occurrence. Loki and Eloham were punished harshly. I think Loki's still serving his punishment. Anansi got off because he tried to stop it at the end, but Astoram... All the gods turned from him. I think, if there was a way to kill him, they'd have done it. It was a really big deal.
"And now, Jerry has woven an enchantment that will let him do it any time he wants. They're terrified."
Gary nodded. He had expected something like this. "I take it they're factionalizing?"
Sookie nodded back. "Yes. Yarm's the voice of one camp, saying that Jerry's the only one who could be trusted with this power, and we should let him get his revenge, and then just talk to him. Tysrane and a few others are arguing that we need to go find him and convince him to give it up. They're pointing out Sarisa's plan, saying that if we let him go through with this, Jerry might become that guy she's trying to make him into."
"Is that it?" Gary asked. Sookie's eyes darkened. "No," she whispered. She took a deep breath.
"The largest group... Including Vintress and Azzazu... They're arguing that he needs to be stopped right now, permanently. That he should be killed, so he can never make another godslayer."
"Sheeeit," Gary drawled slowly.
"Not fucking cool," Mot agreed.
"I don't know what to do, guys," Sookie said, her voice betraying her rising emotions.
"I do," Gary announced. All eyes turned to him.
"We're gonna go find him. We're gonna help him put Sarisa in the dirt, not for payback, but because she needs to be gone for good. She's too fuckin' dangerous. Then we're gonna come back here, win this fucking war, and square off with them assholes what want to kill my buddy, and tell them in no uncertain terms that if they come for him, they come for all of us. And if they do come for him anyways, well... I can't imagine he'd be stingy with the god killin' spells."
"I wouldn't be too sure about that," Mot said. Gary quirked an eyebrow at her.
"I'm not, like, the goddess of psychology or anything, and I realize I don't know him as well as you guys do, but I'm positive that he's carrying around a metric shit-ton of guilt, dude. If I had to guess, I'd say that he doesn't give a shit what happens to him after he kills Sarisa."
Gary winced. He wanted to tell Mot to shut her damn mouth, but he couldn't deny the truth in her words.
"Doesn't matter," he said after a moment's reflection. "Jerry's a damn fine listener, and with all of us reminding him that losing him would hurt us as much as losing Inanna did, he'll come to his senses."
"You sure?"
Gary nodded. He wasn't, actually. He couldn't be. But he had learned long ago that doubts are only useful when they help you refine your plans, and they can get you killed if you dwell on them too much. He had a course of action in front of him. It may not be the best possible one, but it was a good one. It was better to do something dumb decisively than to do nothing at all.
"I'm positive." He stood, Radar untangling himself from Sookie as he did. "I'm gonna go tell Chris, then get ready. I'll be back in ten, and then we're gonna go find Jerry."
"Leave the shirt off," Mot called as he left. He turned, a question in his eyes. "You just got really nice pecs, dude," Mot said with a little grin. Gary bounced his pecs, one after the other, making all three of the women laugh.
Good, he thought as he went back to his 'tent'. Good morale helps everything run smoother.
He found Chris awake, sitting up in the bed. Their eyes met, and Gary knew that Chris knew. Both were old soldiers, who knew what it meant to deploy. Chris stood and followed him back outside, so as not to wake Natalie.
"We're going after Jerry. There's a faction of the gods who want to kill him, now that he has the ability to kill them. We're gonna help him zero Sarisa and then confront that bunch. Yarm's speaking for a smaller group that'll stand with us, and Tysrane of all people, is in the middle."
"Motherfucker," Chris muttered. "Bunch of fucking drama queens, these gods."
"Yeah, well, I kinda get it. Ain't none of them ever had to worry about dying before. They don't really know what courage means."
Chris' lip curled in a sneer. Gary understood. For most warriors, a coward was the worst thing a person could be. Gary was a bit more forgiving, having seen the cowardice in himself that he had overcome, and having seen how courage can form and grow. Jerry himself proved that cowardice was not a permanent state. That kid had pissed his pants and cried like a baby, the first time they got into trouble, and now here he was, off to murder a goddess, virtually by himself.
Chris sighed deeply after a moment. "I'll take care of Nat," he said. "You take care of Jerry."
Gary nodded. "I'mma go say goodbye. We're leaving right away."
Chris came with him and they gently awakened their daughter. "What?" she asked in a drowsy voice when they got her sitting up.
"Poppy's got to go handle some things," Gary told her gently. "I don't know how long I'll be gone for, but I didn't want to leave without saying goodbye." She reached out her arms for his neck and he embraced her.
"I love you, Poppy," she said. "I love you too, Punkin," he said.
"Bring me a present when you come back," she muttered as she laid back down and closed her eyes. Both men smiled down at her and tried to stop their hearts from bursting.
She began to snore lightly again, so Chris walked Gary out. Once outside, Gary summoned his battle rattle from hammerspace, dismissing his current outfit of sweatpants and unlaced boots.
"You take care," Chris said as they hugged each other. Their lips came together for a long moment. When they pulled apart, he added. "Wreck shit."
Gary nodded. "I love you," he said.
"I love you, too," Chris said. They kissed again, and then it was done. Both of them knew these goodbyes. Neither wanted to draw it out, to make it too painful. Gary left to take care of one other task before he left.
Yarm answered on the first knock. "Gary," he said. "Come on in, I need to speak to you."
"Brekka in there?" Gary asked. Yarm nodded. "And the boys. With all that's happening, they didn't really want their space from us."
"I'd rather just the two of us chat," Gary said. "As much as I love your family, this is... Well, talking shop, you know?" Yarm nodded and stepped out, pulling the door shut behind him.
"I need to tell you about the council," Yarm began, but he stopped at the look on Gary's face.
"Sookie told me," Gary said.
"Did she tell you that most of the gods want to kill him?" Yarm asked. Gary nodded. "I'm leaving, to go help him. I trust Jerry, and I consider him a dear friend. I ain't leaving him to stand alone."
Yarm nodded, but he looked pained. "Gary, Jerry is getting very powerful. He has eleven wells, and, frankly, he's as smart as or smarter than Sarisa. And he's cunning as shit, on top of that. You know what that means."
Garry blew out a breath. "Cunning is scarier than smart, every fuckin' day," he said.
"It is," Yarm agreed. "The gods are terrified, Gary. They've never had a threat like this out there. Some of them stand with me, and some, like Tysrane -bless his objective heart- are maintaining neutrality. But most are scared, and that's making them angry."
"They all know about Sarisa's plan. They know about Jerry's visions, because Jane can't lie, and doesn't seem inclined to keep it to herself."
"Where does she stand?"
Yarm shrugged and shook his head. "I have no fucking clue. Nobody does. She's staying removed from the argument, answering everyone's questions."
"Well, hopefully with her being still a little green and all, she won't be as much a threat as Sarisa."
Yarm chuffed. "I'm as green as she is."
"Yeah, but you're so big," Gary said. He eyed Yarm with wide eyes until he cracked and they both chuckled.
"Anyways, I wanted to let you know where I'm off to. Try to run this thing in our direction, back here. I'm gonna help Jerry, but I'm also gonna make sure he has to see a little reason."
"Fuck that noise," Yarm said. "Jerry's my best friend. I'm coming with you. Besides, Saerdwin had a talk with Kratos, and he came over to our side. Between the two of them, they'd do a better job leading this faction than I would. Honestly, Saerdwin alone would do a better job, still, but they're kind of a pair."
"Well, go kiss your ole lady and hug your kids then," Gary said. "We're off to war."
----
Gary and Yarm approached Sookie's 'tent' and slowed down warily when they saw the crowd in front. As they paced closer, Gary began to make out faces. Chris was there, as was Ishantee, Ninhursag, Glorfinel and Anansi. Sookie and Mot were in the group.
Everyone was armed and armored.
Sookie stepped forward. "They're all coming," she said. Gary gawked at them. Chris met his eyes. "Brekka and Esmeralda just showed up and told me to go with you. I didn't question it."
Ishantee spoke. "Inanna was a rival for so long, but the last few weeks, we..." She sniffed and wiped her eye. "We became close. And that meant a lot to me."
"Jerry and I might not have been close, but I know better than to bet against him," Anansi said mildly.
"She stole children from me," Ninhursag growled. Gary met Glorfinel's eyes. He shrugged. "I'm with Anansi, really. This seems like the winning play, to me."
Heavy footsteps sounded from behind him, and Gary turned to find Kratos stomping up, dressed in thick leather armor and swinging an enormous warhammer as if it weighed nothing.
"Why we just standing around? I thought we were gonna go smash Sarisa?" he asked, frowning in confusion.

2023.03.23 19:46 RustFallerMastodon The Dark Side of the Human Mind - A persistent myth

A persistent myth
While the intro to this still gives me a significant amount of hardship, the first chapter was always going to be an easy pick.
I’m going to give a warning to start this chapter, because you are indeed going to panic when I talk about the true human hunting methods. You are going to overreact to the surface level of it, and end up completely missing the far deeper terror of the situation due to being in shock. In a way, it’s a microcosm of this entire work.
So stop reading, get yourself back home if you are out and about, probably stock up on a good Mellower Package* (Personally, I think Roscoe's is the best, as it comes with sugar reeds and an extra fruit packet.) And find a comfortable position that doesn’t have any breakables around you or hard items that you might hurt yourself upon.
Know that I have given adequate warning, and I am under no legal obligation if you cause harm to yourself or others by reading further.
Okay, are you ready? All nice and settled?
Okay, good.
The Human hunting method, by their own omission, is persistence hunting. Slowly chasing down their prey until they finally collapse from exhaustion.
Alright, had your little freakout? Caused some form of stampede, because you didn’t listen to my warnings anyways?
Good.
Now, you’ve undoubtedly picked this up again because, after now convincing yourself of the humans “deceitful predator nature” and merely reading this to find some form of Human weakness to use against them, I want you to click on the attached image of a Human next to one of the prey animals that it would be around during this part of its development, commonly known as an Elephant.
Spoiler.pldr
Now, look at this image, and the hunting style that I just described to you, and realize what I just said makes zero spehing sense.
It would be a fearsome strategy on a predator with actual claws, such as a Terran Tiger, sure. But Humans? A stampede towards them would kill them instantly with a single stomp from this creature. And this isn’t some sort of genetic anomaly. Rhinoceros, Buffalo, even a Giraffe, which looks like a truly awkward creature, can apparently behead other animals with its kick.
And that’s leaving out the actual predators.
This is in retrospect, why open communication between species between species is so necessary. Because left alone, they can get ingrained preconceived notions on how everything looks.
So the whole human hunting strategy wasn’t even what the humans thought it was. What was it then?
After having a reexamination, I think I have figured it out. And it is terrifying.
Not just for the hunted party, but for the hunters as well. And is the beginning of a species-wide genetic madness that’s unlike anything else in the galaxy.
But I’m going to cut it off here. My human needs to be pet. Turns out the whole petting thing goes both ways, although I had to borrow some techniques from the art of human massage.

*Authors note to any Humans who are no doubt reading this, especially Mike. Stop calling Mellower Kits Lunchables. They are not even remotely comparable. And even if they were, Mellowers are better. I’m sorry that Humans also apparently consume actual fecal matter**, because that’s the only explanation for why you would prefer something so vile.
**This is a joke about the quality of this specific Human food. Humans do not actually consume fecal matter. Human food made of plant matter is actually quite delicious, which makes it even more baffling that this was considered something edible.

2023.03.23 19:45 MrArmageddonTTV Best Strand Titan PVP Build - A Beginner's Guide to Berserker! (+video inside)

Hello Guardians,
I hope we've all recovered from last Trials weekend... I can literally still hear the sound of the Immortal in my dreams.
After finishing up the Strand Hunter video and breakdown, I'm proud to be able to introduce the Beginner's Guide to Strand Titan!
What this build leans into is using your suspend ability and chaining Woven Mail, so you're in a near perpetual state of damage resist.
I made a video for you all here: https://youtu.be/sMBKooMYmNw
But of course, I will summarize everything below if you prefer to read.
---

Aspects

Strand Titans currently have only two aspects that they’re able to equip:
  1. Into The Fray; and
  2. Drengr’s Lash
That being said, Bungie did indicate in a recent TWAB that they will be adding a third aspect in an upcoming season, called Flechette Storm. We don’t know anything about it except for the name - though a quick Google search has told me that a Flechette is a small metal dart-like projectile. Rest assured though that when that new aspect comes out, I’ll release an updated PvP build video if required.
OK, so Into The Fray gives you and nearby allies woven mail when you pop super or destroy a tangle. The wording is a little bit misleading because it says it gives “nearby allies” woven mail, but in actuality it will you give and allies woven mail.
So basically, when you destroy a tangle either by shooting it or picking it up and dunking it, you and anyone within the radius of the tangle explosion will get Woven Mail.
If you don’t already know, Woven Mail basically grants you damage resistance in PvP but only to shots taken to the body - any critical damage you take remains unchanged.
Now you may be thinking, well is this really useful in PvP if people can just shoot me in the head?
And the answer is an unequivocal yes. Sure, Woven Mail won’t stop you from getting sniped but it does grant you the ability to tank a lot of damage from weapons that rely on body damage, like shotguns and fusions. Most notably, if you have woven mail, you can quite literally tank a point blank blast from a matador, precision frame shotgun.
And that’s going to be one of the core focuses of the build, really leaning into the inherent tankiness of the Strand Titan kit and making sure that you’ll walking around with that Woven Mail damage resist as much as humanly possible.
Next up, we have Dredger’s Lash, which activates when you pop your barricade ability - sending a green wave forward along the ground, suspending and damaging any enemy it touches.
So by now, I think we’re familiar with how suspend works. A suspended enemy is tied up in mid-air, slammed into 3rd person and unable to aim down sights - though critically, they are still able to hip fire.
Now while Hunters are able to dive-bomb their opponents in order to suspend them, Titans achieve the same effect with a projectile that shoots out of the front of their barricade.
Now here’s the key difference between the Hunter and Titan suspend mechanic. Hunters are ALWAYS in the danger zone when they suspend their opponents. It’s the price of their kit. A hunter literally cannot suspend you without putting themselves in danger - because the radius of their dive bomb is very short range.
But here’s the thing with Strand Titan, your suspend ability doesn’t require you to put yourself at any risk at all. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Your suspend ability immediately guarantees that you have a modicum of safety because of your barricade. If you miss your suspend shot, then nothing happens because you’re already behind a barricade. But if a hunter misses their suspend ability… Well, they’re shotgun fodder.

Class Ability

Which leads neatly to the next point of: which class ability is best for Strand Titan?
Strand Titans have two class abilities to choose from:
  1. The Rally Barricade; and
  2. The Towering Barricade.
The Rally Barricade is the waist-high Titan shield that you can peek over the top, and also increases weapon reload speed, stability, and range when you stand behind it.
And the Towering Barricade is of course, the usual full length Titan shield.
Aside from the obvious, the other notable difference between the two barricades is the cooldown. The rally barricade has a shorter cooldown than the towering barricade - in other words, you can have your suspend ability available more frequently if you use rally barricade.
The question though is: is it worth it having your suspend ability up more often at the cost of less coverage from your barricade?
Well, it depends.
But the short answer is this:
If you’re an aggressive player that enjoys moving forward and pushing the pace constantly, then rally barricade may actually suit your play style more. You can use your rally barricade a lot more offensively because you can pop it and then just peek over the top and immediately despatch your opponent. And with the lower cool down, it’s a much faster rinse and repeat cycle.
But if you’re a more passive player, you’re better off using the towering barricade. In this case, you would be baiting enemies into chasing you around corners and then popping your full barricade suspending them in their tracks. Then you can take your time and decide how you want to deal with them, whether by primary or special weapon.
I highly recommend you try both and see which you prefer, as there’s definitely no right or wrong answer. Personally though, I lean more towards the towering barricade in general, especially in 3s, because if we put aside the suspend ability for a second, the Towering Barricade just has an immense amount of utility in and of itself - for securing Rezes, capturing zones, picking up heavy, holding down a lane, and so forth.

Melee

In terms of melee abilities, Titans currently have only one option: Frenzied Blade.
Activating your melee ability makes you dash forward and slash at your opponents, also severing them.
Animation-wise, it’s quite similar to the Spectral Blades super light attack that you’d get on Void Hunter.
What’s particularly special about Frenzied Blade is that you get three total melee charges.
Now two of these melees will kill your opponent like your uncharged melee, but at a faster speed and with a greater lunge distance than a normal uncharged melee.
But here’s the thing that most people don’t seem to be talking about when it comes to Frenzied Blade.
It’s an amazing movement tool.
Yep, that’s right. The melee lunge and slash is FAST and covers a surprisingly far distance. So not only can you use it to, well, melee people. You can also use it to juke opponents. You can check out a few clips of PrimaryGirl using it in my video if you're interested.
You can also use the Frenzied Blade in exactly the same way as a hunter dodge or Icarus Dash to get back into cover.
See that’s the great thing about Strand. Because it’s all so new, everyone is learning new movement tech every day to elevate the class to its fullest potential. So I encourage you to give it a try and see how the melee gels for you, not only as a melee but as an elite movement tool.

Grenade

Now in terms of grenades, In terms of grenades, you have to choose between your grapple ability, a suspend grenade called a Shackle grenade, and a threading grenade.
But as I said in my Strand Hunter video, there is no grenade that is worth the price of losing your ability to grapple.
After a lot of experimentation, in their current state, suspend grenades are just too inconsistent to rely on in any meaningful engagement. Perhaps they’ll get buffed at some point, but right now, grapple still has greater utility.
The same can be said for Threadling grenades - yes, they have some uses as part of a coherent Strand Warlock build and strategy, but they’re definitely not worth running on your Titan.
By the way, are you guys interested in a Strand Warlock build? If so, leave a comment down below and I’ll work on it next if there’s enough demand.
Anyway, as I’ve said before, given how versatile and vital the grapple ability is, it's hard to imagine ever giving it up for anything else right now.
So just go with grapple.

Super

The Strand Titan only has one super at present, called Blade Fury.
And the best way to think about it is that it’s like Spectral Blades on steroids.
Light attack activates a slash attack that also propels you forward, and you can just chain light attacks if you want to move quickly through an area. Each light attack that lands speeds up how quickly you can slash your next opponent.
The heavy attack launches two projectiles which suspend your opponents, making them easy pickings as you close the distance.
As you saw from the montage, Bladefury is fast, aggressive, tanky and lasts a long time. In many ways it reminds me of a combination of spectral blades and pre-nerf Behemoth.
Just always remember that suspend opponents who are running away so you can close the distance more effectively.

Fragments

OK, now in terms of fragments, you’ll have four slots available and here’s what I recommend:
Thread of Mind means that defeating suspended targets grants class ability energy. This gameplay loop’s obvious, use your barricade to suspend opponents, kill those opponents and get your suspend ability back sooner. It’s a must-have.
Thread of Continuity means suspend, unravel and sever effects applied to targets have increased duration. Unlike hunter, where you would be finishing your opponents at very close range. On titan, sometimes you’ll be dealing death from a farther distance, so it’s important to suspend your opponent for longer in case you’ll be gunning them down with your primary instead of a shotgun.
Thread of Transmutation means that while you have woven mail, weapon final blows create tangles and grants +10 strength. This will allow you to chain woven mail back to back, from kill to kill. Suspend your opponents, create a tangle, get woven mail, kill more opponents, get more tangles and extend your woven mail - rinse and repeat.
Thread of Warding means that you get woven mail from picking up an orb. Now that you can generate orbs very easily in pvp, this is a great way to get free damage resist. Either pick up orbs that your teammates generate, or put on the reaper mod so that you’ll pretty much always have an orb available on kills after popping your class ability. When done correctly, you’ll pretty much have an orb drop after almost every kill, which in combination with thread of transmutation will pretty much let you walk around in a constant state of woven mail tankiness.

Exotics

Alright, so what are the best exotics to make use of the Strand Titan kit? I’m going to give you three difference recommendations, so you can choose the best one for your play style.
First up, the newest Titan Exotic Armor piece, Abeyant Leap.
Abeyant Leap means that Drengr's Lash spawns two additional projectiles, tracks targets more aggressively, and travels farther. You also gain Woven Mail when suspending targets.
This exotic leans strongly into the suspending projectile that spawns after popping your barricade. Using this exotic makes suspending enemies far more consistent, frequently allowing you to suspend multiple enemies who are pushing you.
But see here’s the thing, despite the immense utility of this exotic, I don’t actually see that many people using it as I would expect. And that’s for one very simple reason.
There’s a learning curve.
And that’s actually true of all of the strand kits, whether it’s hunter, titan or warlock. To make the most of the subclass, you have to spend some time mastering the new tools made available to you.
So if you enjoy the idea of taking a tool, mastering it and making it your own, then Abeyant Leap is for you. When used properly, this exotic not only discourages enemies from pushing you, it puts them in a position where they’re risking their life every time they turn a corner to chase you.
Alright now, if you prefer a more generalist approach, I recommend the tried and true Dunemarchers.
Dunes grant you increased sprint speed and slide distance, much like Stompees and Transversive Steps for hunter and warlock, except they come with the added benefit of creating a lightning chain that damages all opponents within a 20 metre radius after a melee hit…
Yeah. It’s strong. And honestly I’m still surprised the chain lightning hasn’t caught a nerf yet. But I digress. Dunes will always be one of the top choice for titans simply because of the incredible neutral game benefits of improved movement. The chain lightning is just an incredibly sweet cherry on top.
So if you prefer a more generalist but powerful exotic that basically just confers a global buff to your gameplay as titan, then choose Dunes.
Lastly, it wouldn’t be a Titan video if I didn’t go completely dark side on you. If you want to use the most broken exotic combo in the game, decimate lobbies while simultaneously farming a mountain of hate messages then allow me to recommend Peacekeepers.
Peacekeepers basically supercharge you if you have an SMG equipped. You get the same sprint and slide boost as with Dunes, except you also get plus 50 mobility, increased strafe speeds, absolute max handling, swap speeds, ADS speeds on your SMG, increased field of view, and auto-loading when you stow your SMG.
I made an Arc Titan build video several months ago, where I mentioned that Peacekeepers were a meta pick that was still underused…
Well, let’s just say everyone’s worked out just how insane they really are. If you want to become the bane of the Crucible, then go grab yourself some Peacekeepers and equip your favourite SMG.

Well, let’s just say everyone’s worked out just how insane they really are. If you want to become the bane of the Crucible, then go grab yourself some Peacekeepers and equip your favourite SMG.

2023.03.23 19:34 sosomething Many of the guns in this game wouldn't function IRL and here's why

I've been enjoying Freelancer mode, but for a game with so much emphasis on firearms, the collecting of firearms, and the fancy display of firearms (in Freelancer at least), the in-game model assets used for almost all of the guns themselves are laughably wrong.
I'm not talking about the graphical fidelity. I'm playing on PS5 in 4K and they're sharp and detailed enough. The textures are mostly pretty nice. Nor am I talking about their visual accuracy to the IRL weapons they're patterned after. I get that many of these are fictional representations of real weapons and I expect little details to be changed.
I'm talking about mechanical details in the way the models are drawn. It's very clear that there was nobody on the asset team knowledgeable enough about firearms to understand how they function mechanically, and hence we've got a whole wall full of guns that would be inoperable or very sub-optimal in their operation if 47 was bound to the laws of physics.
Since a few of you asked me to do this in another thread (and I kind of wanted to, anyway), here's the list with a final verdict on whether, in my opinion, they would shoot or not shoot.

2023.03.23 19:29 FromAcrosstheStars 29 [R4R] - Scotland/UK/Anywhere - Alien looking for alien companions! 👽 [Friendship][Relationship]

Hello Earthlings,
I am an alien from a faraway planet (not sure which one yet, my memories are a bit muddled), and I have been stranded on this planet for twenty-nine years for reasons yet to be discovered. Despite the physical age of my human body I feel and look much younger. I am currently in university as I started my life pretty late. I have been through a lot and have many crazy stories to share.
Due to my circumstances I have been unable to find anyone of my own species to connect with and have found myself quite isolated surrounded by humans. Hence my reasons for making this post. I am looking for other aliens such as myself (species doesn't matter) to connect with, online or offline. While I would prefer people in my area (mid-Scotland) so that we can establish a friendship and see each other in person, I an open to stranded aliens from other parts of the world too. However, if we have things in common I am not opposed to conversing with humans either as I am always interested in finding out more about the species that inhabits this planet.
We do not have gender on my planet. My human body is male, leaning towards non-binary. I am mainly looking for friendships, so gender and age(just be 18+) is irrelevant. However in the rare case that romance blossoms between us, I am not attracted to masculinity. I prefer femininity or androgyny regardless of physical gender. I'm open to ages 20-35 for romance but would highly prefer someone mid-late 20's.
We don't have money on my planet, everyone works for the common good. Therefore I am a leftist politically, and would prefer to converse with other leftists. Do not message me if you are on the right or hold any homophobic, transphobic, racist, etc. views. I am pretty outspoken politically and we will not get along so it is better to save us both grief.
On my planet we do not eat animals. I am in the middle of transitioning to a vegan diet, and have already stopped using animal tested costmetics or wearing fuleather 10+ years ago. Probably best not to message me if you are the "mmm bacon" type, or if you hunt, or fish. We won't get along. If you are vegan, we will have shared views. If you are not vegan but won't be a troll about it, you are welcome to message me as well.
A bit cliche, but I hate small talk. Sorry, but if we are talking about mundane things I will get bored. I really enjoy deep, intellectual discussion. On my planet, we introduce ourselves by telling our names and immediately asking a question that can prompt higher level or philiosophical discussion. From there, we decide if we like each other and want to pursue a friendship. We exchange details and the personal information comes later on. If you message me with something like this you will get a reply!
Now for my interests to give us a variety of topics to talk about or see if we have things in common: Astronomy, aliens/alien life(obviously), Philosophy, Politics, Science, Quantum Mechanics, the Universe, Plant Life, Hiking - I am most at peace in nature, I like to appreciate its beauty and would like to find a hiking buddy as I go frequently but always alone, Working Out - could use a gym buddy too, Music, Acting.
I am also a writer and have written 6 full length novels. Five of these are part of a series and I intend on polishing and then publishing them. They are all of the sci-fi/dystopia genre with a hint of romance. If you are also a writer, it would be fun to read each other's manuscripts. I roleplay as well, and it would be great to find friends who are also roleplay buddies.
Fandoms: Doctor Who (my main fandom), Harry Potter (hate the author though), Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, You, and more I can't remember now.
So! If any of these things struck your fancy, feel free to message me, especially if you live near me! Please do not send "hi", "wyd", or low effort messages like that, I won't respond. Just send a short intro and something you'd like to discuss! If you are a fellow alien, feel free to tell me what your home planet is like! Looking forward to hearing from you.
(Disclaimer: This post is written in a mostly joking manner, for those who struggle to distinguish.)
