We are getting close to finishing the remodel on our house. We have decided to deploy (or eventually deploy) a number of IoT devices (Lutron switches, apple TVs, sensors, door locks, garage door switches, appliances, POE cameras, etc...)
Before we start taking these devices live I am wanting to get the network beefed up and secure. I have an idea of what I think we should do however I am definitely not a network guru... (although I want to learn more about it eventually so that I can at least take care of my own stuff).
Currently I just have the ISP's routemodem/wifi combo unit with two Unifi Nano HD APs. The goal is to expand to where I can hardline additional outdoor APs, the TVs, POE cameras, Hubs, NAS, etc... as well as being able to setup multiple VLANs. This is where I start to need some opinions, experiences, and help:

- I am torn between FWG or UDMSE....
- Unifi - I love the single pane of glass approach, I don't care to play around a little with the setup, and it takes care of an immediate need for POE switch.
- FWG - I like the reviews that people have said how easy it is and that it just works. I would however need a POE switch if I went this route. I also realize I will need to put the Unifi controller in docker on the FWG or get a Cloud Key.
- I know a lot of folks recommend PFSense & OPNsense but I'm not sure I have the skill and time needed to truly set this up effectively and maintain it so I have mostly ruled them out.
- VLANs and Switches.... (will probably stay with Unifi for switches)
- My expectation is that I will need the ability to do Inter VLAN Routing. I know if this is done at the switch level that I would need a Layer 3 switch... however if this was done at the router level would a Layer 2 switch work?
- What is the best way to do Inter VLAN Routing? Layer 3 switch or Router on a Stick?
- Can UDMSE and FWG do Inter VLAN Routing effectively and efficiently?

I just watched the embarrassing hearing about TikTok. It is blatantly obvious how meta and Facebook have influenced her and others through lobbying to eliminate TikTok. This hearing was pathetic. This wasn’t about national security or the children. This was all just to scare middle Americans. This was all just a forgone bipartisan effort to get rid of the app thats competition for meta. Every complaint was an issue for social media as a whole but they make it sound like this is China? They’re just wanting to ban the company who’s not paying them directly. These politicians cant even tell me the difference between a router or a modem but want to take away my freedom of speech. We all see through your corrupt lies. Both democrat and republican. Truly awful.

I’m VP at the school PTO and devote a lot of time to it. Last year there were only 2 people on the PTO. One moved away. The one remaining is now president. Then me, VP. And one kinder mom who volunteered the first meeting to be treasurer.
I organize volunteers for everything: room parents, Fall Festival, committees, newsletter, Uniform Shop, catered meals for conference days, class parties etc. the other officers never attend any of those activities and have never signed up all year for any of those volunteer opportunities. I have led every single meeting. I expected the president to but she always defers to me.
The other officers have come to less than half the meetings this year. They never answer emails. They respond to about 1/4 of texts. I have basically decided they maybe bit off more than they can chew volunteering to be an officer so trying to just get to the end of the year and decide what to do for next year. They frequently apologize after missing something and say they’re just too busy. I also am realizing they have never been in a functional organization. One is a kinder parent and the other has been here for a few years but never recruited volunteers or advertised meetings. I think they just informally agreed to anything the principal proposed.
Lots of things are getting messed up. They violate tax code for 501c3 by giving large cash gifts to teachers (they made this decision at a meeting they changed the date of last minute and I couldn’t make it—I think only 1-2 people attended. There aren’t even minutes from the meeting so I don’t know what happened); they haven’t filed taxes and don’t know how. I’ve offered to help since January and they say “we don’t have to file taxes bc we are tax exempt” that’s not true.
Today I found out from the principal they (principal, other officers) had a meeting outside of regular pto meeting in December, didn’t invite me, made decisions about budget where the principal led the meeting, notified teachers with a letter about the budget. Didn’t inform the rest of the PTO. Didn’t have a vote of officers per our bylaws. (The letter was emailed to me today and dated the same day as my IEP meeting with that principal in December. She never said a word 🤷♀️) Our bylaws say the principal isn’t even on the board and doesn’t have a vote. Obv we usually work well with the principal, or so I thought.
How I found out was a teacher was asking me questions about funding a field trip; she emailed me and all the board. I replied all; no one else answered. I answered with what I knew about the budget. She talked to administrators about it and they basically chastised me for giving out bad info. I explained that I reviewed our budget saved in the google drive as well as all meeting minutes and gave the only info I have. Again she emailed the whole board. I’m the only one replying. I texted the other board members. One hasn’t replied, the other said she thinks she remembers a meeting about field trips but can’t remember specifics. Idk if she’s being vague bc I wasn’t invited to the meeting or what.
Where would you go from here? Principal is asking for us to have a meeting. No one else has replied but me. I won’t be surprised if no one else replies to her or attends the meeting.
I’m thinking that since next year is my daughters last year anyway, also the principal is leaving the district after this year, maybe I try at the next few meetings to get things back on track but if by may everything is still a mess, I resign.

I stole a shirt from a big clothing store, it was surprisingly easy. Grabbed it and went out, the alarm went on but no one cared and I casually walked out. I then went home, the following day i put the shirt on( I removed the price ticket) and put on a jacket and went back to the store, I went to the cashier, told her that I bought this shirt and you forgot to remove the security tag, I'm sorry I'm wearing it I only have this one, all of my clothes are dirty. She said it's okay, grabbed the tag remover, got it off and took it. Sadly I feel proud of myself for being able to do it but at the same time feeling guilty for stealing.
Tldr; As part of an experiment I stole a shirt and got back to the store to get the security tag removed

So this will be both an after action report and a gameplay question. I have recently almost completed a Guangdong Fujitsu playthrough, and I want to outline the positives and the negatives.
The positives
The economic growth and the competition with Manchuria is the best thing in the entire playthrough. It feels so rewarding spending every bit of effort on creating wonderful products, and seeing that GDP moving up - oh, that felt nice. The products themselves also were a wonderful mechanic, and there was an especially brilliant departure from the usual trope - to get additional quality, you could just spend an increased amount of time and money, and not sacrifice people in the thousands. The weapon testing felt kind of nice, and the instant objective recognition looked amazing, but some of the onjectives were somewhat luck-dependant. I think that the last product, the oil crisis wars one, should get lighter objectives, so it is not as hard to get them all completed in barely half the normal time. The graphic design of Fujitsu is beautiful, it was as if the screen had a couple of neon tubes installed inside. The focus tree for Fujitsu is also very well made, and the laws seem realistic, are impactful and rewarding.
The negatives, or I failed the riots so now I complain
One negative before the riots was the Guangdong control mechanic, allowing only one action of a type to be taken simultaneously felt horribly sluggish.
As stated above, I failed the riots. However, I do believe that at least in some part, the outcome of my actions should have been different. I played as Fujitsu, their whole thing is, besides efficiency, digitalization and digital surveilance. They also reform the police force, which I did. They are a futuristic security state. And they can not deal with the riots easily? The effort of establishing all of the security measures feels unrewarded.
The riots themselves have one mechanic which was my downfall. Since I was doing an "evil" playthrough, I did all the force decisions and reduced the Strength to 0 for both organizations. I also kept than number firmly in place, and slowly pushed the rebels geographically with the control screen. There are 0 people on the streets, order has been restored to all but one district, and yet the investigation fails due to high radicalism. Are all the rioters in prison, but, like, really angry, and refuse to say anything? Allright then, don't talk, but, since you are not in the streets, the riots are over, no?
The options in the investigation are a pure headache. I don't know how to investigate, I'm the chief executive, not a cop, all I got is some flavor events, you are the cop, and I've been bankrolling you for the better half of the playthrough, go do what gets results!
I did about five dismantlement attempts and then some with save loading, as the situation was getting kind of desperate. So either I just missed some of the right choices, which, in my opinion, makes it too random, or I should have negotiated, which, in my opinion, breaks the character of Ibuka. And it's not like he's doomed to fail story-wise, at this point he spent a decade building a security state, he is by far the most economically successful member of the sphere considering growth, half of the world's administrative capacity stems from his computers, but oh no, Zhdanov coctail go splash. Did his fancy surveilance gaming setup overheat from all of the fires?
Conclusion
Despite everything, Guangdong is a wonderful country to play as, if for some reason you've been putting it off for a month like me, do a playthrough, it's fun, but oh my god, I'll need 3 Sablin runs to clear the memories of the flavor events.
I also ask a question, in case I return to that unfinished playthrough. So how do you beat the riots? Don't say stuff like "figure it out", trust me, I've tried. I've spent two evenings on the bloody riots alone!
