2023.03.23 20:41 wildness9984 The Village of Digital Gold
Chapter 1: The Forgotten Village
In a remote corner of Africa, the small village of Kipande struggled to survive. The once-thriving community had been hit hard by drought and famine, leaving the villagers with little hope for the future. The once vibrant markets were now empty, and the sounds of laughter that used to echo through the streets had long been silenced.
Chapter 2: A Ray of Hope
One day, a wandering traveler named Imara arrived in Kipande, bringing with her tales of a digital currency known as Bitcoin. She spoke of how it had transformed lives in other parts of the world, enabling people to trade and transact without the need for traditional banks or financial institutions.
Imara, a skilled engineer, recognized the untapped potential of Kipande's abundant solar energy. She proposed a plan to the village elders to set up a solar-powered Bitcoin mining operation, which could generate income for the village.
Chapter 3: The Bitcoin Experiment
With the help of the villagers, Imara constructed a small solar power farm on the outskirts of Kipande. Using recycled materials and donated mining equipment, they built a modest Bitcoin mining facility. The villagers, though initially skeptical, were eager to learn about this new technology and the opportunities it could bring.
As the mining operation began to produce Bitcoin, the villagers started to trade the digital currency with neighboring villages for food, water, and essential supplies. The village of Kipande slowly came back to life, as the markets began to bustle once again.
Chapter 4: The Ripple Effect
The success of Kipande's Bitcoin mining initiative caught the attention of nearby villages. Intrigued by the prosperity it had brought to Kipande, they sought to replicate the project in their own communities. Imara traveled from village to village, sharing her knowledge and skills, and helping to set up similar solar-powered Bitcoin mining operations.
The ripple effect of Kipande's experiment spread across the region, as more and more communities embraced the power of Bitcoin. With each new village that joined the network, trade and commerce flourished, leading to a resurgence of prosperity and hope.
Chapter 5: The Birth of a New Economy
The network of Bitcoin-powered villages soon attracted the attention of the international community. Investors and entrepreneurs flocked to the region, drawn by the promise of a new, decentralized economy. They brought with them resources and expertise, which helped to further develop the region's infrastructure and education system.
Kipande and its neighboring villages became a beacon of hope for other struggling communities around the world. The story of their transformation inspired countless others to explore the potential of Bitcoin and other digital currencies, paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous global economy.
Chapter 6: A Brighter Future
The village of Kipande had been given a new lease on life. The once desolate streets were now filled with laughter and the sounds of commerce. Children, who had once faced a bleak future, now had access to education and opportunities that were previously unimaginable.
The spirit of unity, innovation, and resilience that had been sparked by Bitcoin had transformed not just Kipande, but the entire region. It was a testament to the power of human ingenuity and the unyielding determination of a small village to rise above adversity and build a brighter future for all.

2023.03.23 20:17 ellipsisslipsin Vegan & Minimally Processed Food for Toddler Party...
Hi guys! I'm crosspostinf this from
vegan...
So I'm doing my first birthday party for my son as he's about to turn 3. We have a relatively unique guest list, as half of the kids are from his preschool program, which is a Waldorf school, and half are from a local family hiking group we hike with. I'm vegan, as is one of the other families, a mom from one family, and one family is vegetarian. Also... some of the families from the Waldorf program tend to shy away from more processed foods or foods with lots of added sugar (as do my husband and I normally). However, a little over half of the families just eat a regular U.S. diet and would maybe not be super excited if I just had my typical less processed, homemade, vegan fare, and I'd hate to have a bunch of toddlers not wanting to eat anything we're serving...
It's also a bit complicated, because the kids will be between 18 months to 6 years old, with most falling between 2-4 years old. Most of my dishes that I make for family get togethers aren't finger foods (think more wfpb-style broccoli salad, pasta salad, veggie Mac and cheese, etc.), but I feel like finger foods would probably be the best for this age group.
We are going to do a more traditional cookie cake for the cake (I have an awesome recipe I already veganized a few years ago for that), but can anyone think of any other easy for toddlers to eat foods that would also please this type of crowd?
I'm still in between either a brunch party (around 10:30 am) or an early evening party with dinner (around 4:30-5 pm). So brunch or dinner food suggestions would be amazing.

2023.03.23 20:02 boghossboy What am I in for starting Internal Helpdesk transferring from a MSP.
Recently Accepted a offer at a retail company (Some may have heard of before) doing Internal Helpdesk. There are about 300 employees With 4 other IT people. One sys admin, One network engineer, one IT Director and 1 other person on helpdesk besides me.
I only worked at one other MSP for about 3 months and hold the CompTIA Trifecta. The interview process was none I had before, Met the Team, Did no technical Interview and was offered the job as I had to accept due to rent and food. Asked what I would be doing and they said just the basic level 1 help desk. Also asked about the training I would get regarding the software and policies and they just said I would be fine and to ask questions to the other people. I am very worried as I start on Monday and don't know what to expect.
Does anyone have any prior experience doing Internal IT and what I should expect?
Also, Does anyone Get a bunch of people reaching out for positions that have better pay and better positions after they accept a job. LOL!

2023.03.23 19:48 TreatThompson The key to life according to a 116 year old
“I mind my own business and I don’t eat junk food.”
That’s what 116 yr old Besse Cooper said when asked about the key to living a long life:
Such a simple statement, but it packs so much value.
The junk food part is obvious. I’m more interested in her minding her business.
When I think of minding my own business I think of being present, not comparing myself to others, having self-awareness, and avoiding drama.
There’s so many negatives that come my way when I live outside of myself.
The biggest one I’ve felt is the urge to do the dance for validation: bending over backwards and not being myself just to get pats on the back from others.
This was the name of the game in university.
To network and get internships I had to be what people wanted to see. Business had to be my life. I had to have a fire for climbing the corporate ladder.
I’m glad I stopped that charade early though. If I kept it going I definitely would’ve compromised my dreams, values, and standards just for admiration.
Doing that across decades would’ve built up regret, resentment, guilt, shame, and disappointment that I’d carry forever. And without having the science to back it up, I think it could’ve led to a shorter life.
I think minding my own business can stretch further than that too.
I think of junk food for our brains. For me that’s family and friends that are sources for fights, news and other content that feeds negativity, and haters that shut down ideas and never water inspiration.
I’m not sure about lifespan, but blocking all those out of my life raises the ceiling for my joy.
It reminds me of this quote:
"If you care for your mind, if you nurture it and if you cultivate it just like a fertile, rich garden, it will blossom far beyond your expectations. But if you let the weeds take root, lasting peace of mind and deep inner harmony will always elude you.”
Mind management is life management.
I think Besse was on to something.

2023.03.23 19:45 potatomoose5 26/intersex/Canada- Just trying to make long term friends here
Hello world!
I like trying new combinations of things, whether it's food, or coming up with brand new music compositions. Oh and of course, different interpretations about things that happened in history and finding out who was connected to whom (thus forming a network of sorts). I have a big interest in Asian and African history though, but also read about certain aspects of European history too.
Anyways.. about my interests, I like to play mobile games, namely some cheezy games like subway surfers, Mario Kart tour, Geometry Dash, Smash Hit, and Pokemon Shuffle. I also enjoy calisthenics, yoga, and listening to music as well as walking a lot in nature and practicing calisthenics, a form of weight bearing exercise that doesn't involve weights.
I don't watch videos online much, but when I do, I watch Stephen Colbert or Easy Languages to learn about the life of people in other countries, and learn words in languages that I probably don't plan on mastering (I am currently watching Easy Polish and Easy Arabic). Speaking of languages, I do know a few languages, the main ones are English (duh), Spanish (I have an intermediate level at that), Norwegian (also an intermediate level) and I suppose I'm okay at Canadian German (I have little use for it on any given day and I'm sure my grammar sucks).
History? Well I did mention that in the title, I like reading books about the lives of average, regular people in different countries and different eras and how the political conditions affected them. So I like reading nonfiction and historical fiction about that type of stuff.
I also really like music a lot, especially cringy folk music, but also more serious stuff like western and eastern classical music. The cringe stuff appeals to me because maybe at heart I'm just a kid who likes the wholesome things.
Not looking for easily googable questions, like what intersex is or anything like that.
My schedule is kinda variable due to a variety of reasons I won't go into, so I'm looking for some people who are compatible on that front too.
So now you know about me, I'd like to learn more about you, what makes you tick? What gets you up in the morning, and perhaps most importantly of all, what brought you to this website? Do you think there's a difference between "interests" and hobbies?
I don't care where you're from or your gender, just be in line with the parameters above and I would prefer if you have a similarly variable schedule to mine, so there isn't any misunderstandings.

2023.03.23 18:53 cosmo0071 Being exposed to the real power of psychedelic's
My two best friends and I planned to take mushrooms when they visited to fly fish for the weekend. I live in southwest Florida and the place we did them was on an island I fish that’s usually empty and it’s pretty big about a mile and a half of beautiful shoreline and mangroves in the back. My buddy mailed down the shrooms they were an “exotic” type I don’t remember the name but his guy said they are 4x as potent as regular shrooms, I’m not claiming they were just putting it in here. We got up early probably 4am or so and fished until about 10am. Made lunch then got to the island at around noon.
We ingested them at 1pm, I ate 4g, bob ate 4g and John ate 5g, sun was out it was beautiful and hot this took place in September so we decided to go in the water which was very clear that day. We noticed this gathering of a few hundred birds on the shoreline about 40 minutes in. We decided to see how close we could get by army crawling to them, we got within 5-6ft it was incredible since the shrooms were kicking in with the “high quality” filter it puts over visual precipitation. We watched them fly over our heads, interact with each other, scavenge for food, etc. for about 15 minutes. This was a really good start to the trip and then we were all starting to get nauseous and the feeling of lethargy from the come up so we decided to get out.
I told my buddies I’m gonna go for a walk, I typically like to spend time in my head while on these to check in with myself if that makes sense. I start to head down the beach and I’m drawn to the brushy vegetation filled side. It leads back to where the kayak is in the “backcountry” it’s a stagnate muddy bay like area lined with mangrove trees. I took a trial leading to the kayak and my vision began to have a green and orange filter over it. The further back in the brush the quieter it got due to the wind being blocked, my ears began ringing and it was so fucking I hot that I remember thinking holy shit this is hell back here I don’t wanna peak here. I stood there for a little bit and got to watch snook blow up on some baitfish which was really cool but too hot and quite for my liking, I was starting to feel weird so I decided to go back to the beachfront.
I returned back to the beach and realized this is already pretty intense and this is roughly 2:30, 1-1/2hours after digesting. I walked down to a cement Pilar that was probably 2’x2', there’s a collection of them along the right side of the island to mitigate something. I sat on the side of it and stared into the ocean looking for wisdom or something profound but my mind was racing I couldn’t concentrate on a single topic for longer than a few seconds. It started to get frustrating so I gave up on gaining any insights of wisdom. I figured this is too intense to try and guide my thoughts so I yelled to my friends and waved them over. At this time an apocalyptic thunderstorm had formed about a mile east of us so we had a parallel view of sun over the ocean and an end of the world sized thunderstorm to the east over the mangroves. It was truly beautiful and such a treat to add to our trip, both of them walked down to me and bob kept walking but John stopped to hang out with me. We figured to just let bob do his thing, so we laid down in the sand and looked up at the storm. The sky began to have a force field around it identical to the one in the hunger games, I was in awe this experience was incredible.
Everything from now until the end are very loosely based time stamps and/or estimates based on the duration of any given moment but the depiction of events are engraved into my brain as I have spent a lot of time reflecting on this, in a healthy manor of course.
At this point we are probably 2-2 1/2 hours into digestion, so around 3:30. Bob returns to me and John, we all spoke about how intense of an experience this was and bob looked as if he wasn't having a good time and he asked if he was being weird. To which we assured him he was not, he also said “we don’t have anywhere to be right?”, in a pretty manic state. Which kind of freaked me out so I selfishly told them I’m returning to my pillar I was previously leaning against. Looking back I wish I would’ve comforted my friend but I was in a slippery place as well so I'm not sure if I would've even been of assistance. They went off into the water and I went to my pillar the sun was beating down into the ocean and I had this surge of intense energy come over me. I sat down and began looking out into the water the entire movement of the ocean was speed up in a dramatic fashion adding to the intensity. I felt like I was god, I made all of this, a deeply confident narcissistic persona took over my entire mentality which is the farthest from me in sobering reality. I suppose it was my shadow as Carl Jung would call it. I really liked this feeling, I felt capable of anything and everything. I remember “mirroring” from one side to the other side of the pillar I was leaning against. I would spend a few minutes on one side and then the other but I never got up, reality would just invert itself. The intensity of the experience I’m having is still mounting, water still in fast forward and I remember looking up at the clouds and having this assured feeling that I was about to get “the answer”, essentially that god, the programmer, aliens, creator of everything was about to present itself. Not sure how long this lasted but I realized it just wasn’t going to come to fruition. So I move to a pillar that's right next to where my friends are in the water so we can talk.
I start expressing my feelings about this experience and how insane it is, we talk about stupid stuff for a little bit. During this period I was looking up at the clouds and a banner of clouds formed with different shapes and logos inside of it and I’m smiling ear to ear just saying to them how do you even explain this to anyone. I’m starting to realize that this is still getting stronger to where I’m beginning to question what is real and what is not. And I leaned into my delusions even more. I say to my friend I never played with reality like this ever in my life and distinctly remember during the entirety of this slipping away period “who cares if this is just it forever why would you want to go back there anyway”, worth noting I was going through a bit of high stress period during this time in life. Nothing major I was just overworking myself physically and mentally, and I knew internally that I'd have to do that until I died but I don't care about anything in this state of consciousness so why not just stay. Which really set the tone of not caring about whatever reality I was currently in whether it was real or not, I was ok with staying there. This mindset ensued until about the last 15 minutes of the trip. I also mentioned to them a few weeks prior to this that we should do ayahuasca in the Amazon and I whole heartedly believed that this could us tripping there, wasn’t fully convinced but genuinely believed it was a possibility.
This brings us to probably around 5-6 o'clock, I'm not really sure as I'm just going off of how I remember the delineation of the sun during the experiences. I realize I've been getting bite by fire ants for the last 5 mins, it felt good and I also had the thought that it doesn't matter since this isn't my body anyway. I didn't have a thought or concern about anything I was just experiencing. I yell to my friends jokingly "dude I'm getting bite by ants" to which John replies "dude get in the water they can't get you in here" in a super genuinely concerned stoner manner which was hilarious so I got in.
I get in and it was so cold but very euphoric, we talk for a little throw things at each other jokingly and at one point there was a blitz of bait and snook that went right through us, it was pure bliss. We stayed in for about 30-40 minutes I believe. At one point I look over at bob who's been quite a majority of the last hour or so. I do not remember him speaking much. When I look over at him he appears as if he's trying to speak and opens his mouth and saltwater pours out into his bread, his heads sideways and eyes are going in different directions. This isn't a hallucination, bob ain't doing to good. I don't know what to make of this as I'm not too sure if I even know bob or not. I feel like I do but he's not real, he's just potentially a code uploaded into a video game I'm developing and it's malfunctioning. In that moment I began to play with the idea that this is just a full blown simulated experience I'm designing. I was checking out the map right now and I implanted these 2 characters so that they can challenge me to see if I can tell the difference of if I'm in the simulation or not. Essentially I was planted into my own simulator I'm designing and my awareness of that was eliminated so I could give the map, level, world, whatever it was an unbiased review. I kept this to myself as I really began to believe it more and more.
Little bit of blurriness in the exact order of this part but this was it, the peak. We are about 5 1/2 hours in on these it's about 6:30. Don't remember too much more in the water but I believe bob got out first to go under a pavilion. This side of the beach is owned by an apartment I believe, so they shuttle people to it and they have a few pavilions, about 300 feet up from the water. John follows after and I go to my pillar to get my shirt. I make my way back towards the 2, John is about 100 ft from the pavilion he looks at me and says bob isn't doing too good. In my head now I don't really even know if these people are real, my friends or just implanted memories but it doesn't feel human. I say what's wrong he says he's freaking out a little. This doesn't register to me the way it should as I'm skeptical about my current reality, I start to question him in a serious manner asking if he really gave us shrooms or not. I'm under the impression there's no way we only took shrooms as this is way too intense of an experience. He answers me a little annoyed and frustrated stating "yea it was just shrooms dude" but that doesn't convince me of anything.
At this point I'm trying to make sense of where I am, who I am or what's going on. I am still extremely calm in a state of I don't care what happens or what this is but I'm confident I'll figure it out. I wander over to the pavilion, upon entering it I notice a mass collection of 40-50 shells on a wooden picnic table that bob is sitting down at, with his elbows on his knees and hands covering his face just looking down at the ground. When I go to sit down he looks at me with a primitive, defensive and confused expression on his face. I begin to think we are in purgatory and we must collect shells to deal with boredom. I sit a for a little bit and bob begins to ask me if this ever going to end to which I reply, yea it'll be ok, but I'm just as lost as he is so I'm not sure why I said that. John is sitting down where I last spoke with him about 100ft from the pavilion looking into the ocean. Bob begins to pace around with a very manic posture, he was on edge and his mind was in a full blown defensive state, I remember thinking he might try to attack me. He keeps asking if we ever get to leave here, and now I come to the realization that I'm not sure, this might be it forever so I don't answer him. I get up and walk down the beach a few hundred feet, I notice some boats going by but they look fake, like fans in the stand of a video game, I thought they must just be there for the aesthetic of this simulation I'm in. I somehow wind up sitting down again in the same place under the pavilion and I would get up and repeat this process over and over again. I was stuck in a time loop, I began to question things more like do I even eat, pee, drink, etc. because I don't remember doing any of these things in what seemingly felt like an entirety that I spent in this time loop. Time stopped existing at this point and I experienced what infinity felt like for the first time ever, John at this point is trying to get us to leave but I'm unable to comprehend what this even means. He said something to me and then turned away, the particles he was made up of glitched in a digital way which added to the delusion even more. I go back under the pavilion with bob, he's still not doing well, very aggressive and defensive still. He doesn't say anything but his body language was in a fight or flight response. I sit down and I'm still trying to make sense of what is actually happening. I theorize that we are in a black mirror type of prison, that we were uploaded into this state of consciousness by a neural network and were serving a prison sentence. I also briefly considered that we were drug addicts that have destroyed our brains over the years of use and this was just an episode stemming from brain degeneration. I start think this is forever, I reason with myself that bobs freaking out because he is unable to come to terms with the infinite reality we are in and that John is just sick of hearing him freak out. I empathize for bob that this feeling of fear and distress must overcome all 3 of us every once in awhile when we come to terms with the fact we would be here forever. I tell myself I can't allow myself to break, I have to endure this as long as I can. I get up and walk down the beach and come back. At this time John is more or less terrified that both his friends are essentially "broken", I can tell by his body language he's uncomfortable and frustrated. He says he's heading back to the kayak and going to the truck. This gave me some kind of grounding hope, I looked up at confused bob and said dude it's alright we just took shrooms, I felt some sense of relief and gave him a hug which he did not like at all and gave me a dirty look.
At this point I'm not 100% of what I believe is real or not. I say to bob let me see your phone, I just needed to see that time was real or something to remind me of the past reality I lived in. I'm a little more convinced that this may not be forever but I'm also not sure. I have bob gather his things which took us a few minutes. We start to head down the beach and this was the most terrifying walk of my life because if I get to where I believe this kayak is and it is not there then I'm confirming the fact that I'm here forever. We finally make it there, fuck was I happy to see the kayak. John was freaked the fuck out standing there waiting for us. I could see a lot more clearly now, bob was still in a pretty heightened standoffish state. John is in such a rush to leave and I explain to him to just relax we don't have anywhere to be and that no one's driving my truck since we're still high, he becomes argumentative with me overstating his sobriety. I can see he is in a state of panic from how gone me and my buddy previously were. Bob forgot his glasses under the pavilion so I opted to go back with him and get them and John was gonna wait at the kayak till we got back. During this walk I start to try to talk to bob about everything that just happened, he's doing a little better as I comfort and reassure him it'll be ok but he is still not back to normal. We get the glasses and return to the kayak, where we see john sprinting through chest deep water dragging the kayak behind him fully clothed. We really had freaked him out but at this point it's hilarious to me. It's about 7 o'clock and I see that bob is finally back to the bob I know, I gave him a hug and felt relieved. We walk into the water and down the mangrove line, the tide was high so the water was about waist to chest deep the entirety of the 3/4 mile walk. The sun was setting where the thunderstorm previously was hours ago in the day. The sky was absolutely beautiful filled with pink and yellow, the wind was calm and the water was glassy, warm and refreshing. Once again we see large schools of snook blowing up on baitfish. Which is funny how much feeding activity we seen during the entirety of this mushroom experience because the majority of the fishing we did that weekend was not very good, we caught fish but they didn't get to experience anything to this magnitude. This walk was the best way to end this, we took our time and talked deeply and expressed our gratitude for the friendship we have created together over the years. We make it back to my place and all just lay on the floor in my room. We talk here and there but its hard to even use words after having that experience. I was more grateful to have my life then I've ever been in my entire existence. Our friendships grew deeper with each other and I imagine I will think about this experience regularly for years to come.
I've done shrooms before about 6x or so, with the max dose 3.5g a few times but I always was in control of understanding my reality and that I ingested shrooms. I had no idea an experience such as this was possible, I've read tons of crazy trip reports over the years but I guess I didn't understand it until I lived it, just how mind altering these substances can be. This is exponentially the most amazing thing I've experienced in my life, from start to finish it was "perfect" from the location, the weather, the water, the fish, the stages of consciousness I journeyed through. The biggest takeaway I had from this was experiencing what infinite consciousness felt like and it was the most terrifying thing I've ever been exposed to. This is has made a lot of the things in life I used to stress over not so bad anymore. In fact whenever I start to think something is difficult or unpleasant I reflect on that and the problem becomes pretty insignificant.
*** if you live in the Fort Myers area and are obsessed with fly fishing as well message me. I’ve been here for about 7 months and haven’t had an issue finding fish but I need a fishing buddy ***

2023.03.23 17:53 aeon3k Vosalta launched ! "Meet like minded people ! " A data privacy oriented, totally free, no ads, simple website dedicated to finding people that match some criteria all over the world.
Hi community,
Today I wanted to announce that I launched my website in beta (
https://vosalta.com) ! The purpose of the website is to provide a way to find people that match specific criteria. There are many such apps & websites but Vosalta's perspecive is way different than that of other players.
* The website is free. No ads. No premium features. FREE.
* It's very minimalist in its functions. It is not yet another social network that wants to hook you on dopamine with constant notifications, ratings or ever increasing enticements. Just a directory list of users and many, many filters (and growing)
* Data privacy oriented. Full transparency on all your data and what we do with them (we just offer our service). No sharing with 3rd party apps. No cookie to track your behavior. Data minimisation. Nothing (almost) mandatory.
* In order to reduce our carbon footprint, we offer no AI, no chat (use what you already use), no machine learning, no background batchs etc.
* All the filters and interface will be internationalized so that you can find people on the other side of the planet too. For now the interface has been translated in Spanish, French and English (if you want to help with that, just PM me)
* It was not designed to be a dating webapp though you could use it for such purpose. You can use it to find a chess player in japan or a rap music fan in your neighbourhood. You can use it to find an italian teacher or to debate with someone from your opposite political side.
I hope you'll enjoy it. I'll be more than happy to receive your feedback on Vosalta
take care !

2023.03.23 17:03 cosmo0071 Being exposed to the real power of mushrooms

2023.03.23 16:59 hikethosetrails Gluten appears to make me lose weight, is this common?
Eating gluten for the test. I remember before when I was gluten free I felt like if I looked at food I gained weight.
Well, I’ve been eating like a pig for the last week, eating every gluten containing food I can think of (since it might be the last time I can eat it ever) and I’ve LOST 3 pounds! I know it’s not a lot, but it’s definitely different from before.
The last week I’ve eaten pastichio, cake, cookies, butter pasta, Alfredo, cookies and ice cream, donuts, cupcakes, etc. like some of this all in one day!! Big portions too.
According to CICO, I should have gained. I am confused.
