So I'm a new player and the game was beautiful at start. I loved the vibes and the aesthetics. Ship combat was fun and the missions were interesting. Overall was having a really fun experience until tonight. We are playing with an open crew, so me and my friend plus one random on the brigande. We decided to do a merchant quest where you find lost cargo. As we were collecting the last loot, our random player decided to blow up our ship. We went back to the crash site, put him in a brig, and went to pick up another quest because we lost our flag bonus from the trade alliance.
Once we did the second quest, another ship was docked near the last part of the quest. We finished the quest and decided to sail for another port to unload our cargo. They saw us, put on reaper flag and decided to chase us. That did nothing because every time they got close, I dropped their anchor and forced them to stall. The chased us for a whole 2 hours, and they would never catch us, until the cracken decided to attack us (not them ofc). So eventually after fighting the cracken and the enemy ships crew (was a 4 man galleon) we sunk.
Just venting honestly. The game is beautiful and I really hate to have had such an experience ruin an otherwise amazing game, but such combination of mechanics just suck. When the game just decides to screw you over after spending hours upon hours in the game, and you get nothing to show for it after fighting so hard. Anyways, happy sailing everyone, and sorry for the rant.

TLDR: Was chased for 2 hours after gathering loot for another hour, and then got caught by kraken during the chase and lost 3 hours to nothing.

long story short i began migrating my 1.19.2 installation to 1.19.4. I decided to reinstall all mods from the list of the old installation. i know rookie mistake but i downloaded all at once and only ran the game with all the mods, it crashed. I tried looking thru the logs, couldn't figure out anything. tried disabling the mods in a binary search fashion but no luck there either. than i decided to just guess. Importan part: the game loads with only API's + sodium + other mods that complement sodium here is the log from the ATL console

For all of you early Electrical Engineering majors, this is a guide going over which classes are worth taking, the difficulty levels, and when to take them. I can only go over classes I have taken, and these won’t be in any particular order, aside from required courses first. Hope this helps you to decide which classes to take and when. I’ll also give a 1-10 rating how fun, difficult, and useful each class is.
Required Courses: These are classes that are required.
EEL3000 (Intro to EE) – Dr. Zmuda: Honestly, this is barely even a class. It is quite easy with only one or two actual project you must do. Easily able to be fit into any schedule.
Fun: 6/10 Difficulty: 3/10 Usefulness: 3/10
EEL3111 (Circuits 1) – Dr. Yoon: Among the three weed-out classes, this one is probably the easiest. Most of the concepts are pretty simple, but the amount of work the course requires can be a bit much at times. The backwards classroom thing is annoying but overall not awful.
Fun: 5/10 Difficulty: 5/10 Usefulness: 7/10
EEL3701 (Digital Logic) – Dr. Bobda: I know that this is much more difficult with Dr. Schwartz, but with Dr. Bobda it wasn’t too bad. I definitely would make it the focal point of my semester either way though. Of the weed-out classes, this is probably the most difficult.
Fun: 4/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Usefulness: 7/10
EEL3135 (Signals and Systems) – Dr. Harley: Of the three weed-out classes, this is probably the one that takes the least amount of time. It can probably be fit into most schedules, just make sure not to take this and digital logic at the same time.
Fun: 6/10 Difficulty: 5/10 Usefulness: 6/10
EEL3112 (Circuits 2) – Dr. Asadi: This class is pretty easy, and honestly a bit boring at times. Minimal work and time commitment required, so get it out of the way early if possible.
Fun: 3/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Usefulness: 4/10
EEL3923 (Junior Design) – Dr. Patrick: This class can be as easy or difficult as you make it. If you stay on top of things, it can be pretty easy but it is also very easy to slip out of it and have things snowball. Can probably be fit into most semesters.
Fun: 7/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Usefulness: 9/10
EEL4744 (Microprocessors) – Dr. Schwartz: This was a required class for me still, although I know it isn’t for newer students. This is by far the most difficult class I’ve ever taken, not one to be taken lightly. Enormous time commitment; build your semester around this class. At least its useful.
Fun: 3/10 Difficulty: 10/10 Usefulness: 8/10
EEL4923 (Senior Design) – Dr. Eisenstadt: Similar to junior design, this class is as difficult as you make it. If you choose a hard project, the class will be difficult. But ultimately, it’s up to you. I would recommend making sure you choose the right partner and project to make sure you have a good time in this class. It can be extremely rewarding.
Fun: 7/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Usefulness: 10/10
Mid-Level Courses: These are courses that are stepping stones for the later classes.
EEL3008 (Physics of EE) – Dr. Arnold: This is a relatively easy class that isn’t woo much work either. Not a class to plan around, but one to be added to a medium-difficulty semester. Dr. Arnold is also one of the best professors in the department as well, so that helps this class a lot.
Fun: 7/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Usefulness: 6/10
EEE3308 (Electronics 1) – Dr. Fox: Dr. Fox isn’t still at the school, but the new professors are pretty good from what I hear. This is genuinely one of the most important classes I’ve ever taken, I highly recommend this class to every EE major. You’ll learn so many important concept and become a better engineer. This class may be moderately difficult, but if you commit some time to learn stuff early instead of last minute, it isn’t too bad.
Fun: 7/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Usefulness: 10/10
EEL3211 (Electric Energy) – Prof. Rambo: This class was moderately difficult, and I definitely recommend taking this class over the summer if possible. The overall workload isn’t too high but the individual assignments can be brutal.
Fun: 4/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Usefulness: 4/10
EEL3472 (Electromagnetics 1) – Dr. Rakov: This class was one of my favorites, and Dr. Rakov is one of the best professors as well. Its very math-heavy though, so be sure to review math before this class. Overall, this class is too difficult.
Fun: 8/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Usefulness: 7/10
EEE3396 (Solid State Devices) – Dr. Guo: Surprisingly, this was one of the more difficult classes I’ve taken. Maybe it’s just me but the concepts were difficult to understand and the homeworks were quite difficult. It isn’t the worst, but don’t underestimate this class and get behind.
Fun: 3/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Usefulness: 5/10
Electives: Classes I’ve taken because they git my interests.
EEL4598 (Computer Communications) – Dr. McNair: I’m not very interested in computer stuff, so this class was kind of boring for me. It’s pretty easy, and the final project isn’t awful. Overall, not a lot to say about this class.
Fun: 3/10 Difficulty: 3/10 Usefulness: 3/10
EEL4242 (Power Electronics) – Dr. Wang: A surprise hit of mine. One of the most interesting classes I’ve taken and surprisingly useful. Not a ton of work and the exams are relatively easy. I don’t know if this class still has the lab, but the lab was barely a factor to be honest.
Fun: 8/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Usefulness: 9/10
EEL4251 (Power Systems Analysis): Dr. Bretas: One of the big let downs for me. This class is probably not what you expect it is. It is very math-heavy and high-level concepts, as where I was expecting stuff about power grids in general. Also not the easiest class.
Fun: 2/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Usefulness: 5/10
EEE4306 (Electronics 2) – Dr. Fox: Again, Dr. Fox isn’t teaching the class anymore, but this class is a natural extension of electronics one and is vital if you want to do analog design. It can be difficult at times, but overall not the most difficult class.
Fun: 7/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Usefulness: 9/10
EEL4412 (Applied Magnetism) – Dr. Arnold: If you’re into magnetics and such, you’ll probably love this class. Dr. Arnold is very charismatic and drives the class in a positive direction. Not too difficult either, although the homeworks can be more difficult than you’d think at times.
Fun: 8/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Usefulness: 4/10
EEL4446 (Lasers) – Dr. Zmuda: In contrast to Dr. Zmuda’s other classes, the content of this class is much more advanced than I was expecting. It covers many topics that I wasn’t expecting, and many you may not have experience in. It’s an interesting class but the difficulty may not be worth it for you.
Fun: 5/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Usefulness: 4/10
EEL4473 (Electromagnetics 2) – Dr. Zmuda: Probably the easiest of the electives I’ve taken. Dr. Zmuda is a very relaxed professor and this course is overall pretty laid-back, but very useful for an electromagnetics person to take.
Fun: 7/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Usefulness: 7/10
EEL4495 (Lightning) – Dr. Rakov: I saw this class when I was a freshman and knew I had to take it someday. Having taken it, I can say it was everything I wanted it to be. A decent amount of math involved, but it isn’t too bad if you practice it. Dr. Rakov loves teaching this class and it shows in how enjoyable the lectures are.
Fun: 9/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Usefulness: 6/10
Again, I can only cover the classes that I took. Obviously, I am down an electromagnetics path and not too big of a fan of digital stuff, but hopefully this can be useful to my fellow EE majors. Best of luck in the upcoming semesters.

What other VR1 games should make the jump?

As someone who's been playing since the start, I'm very pleasantly surprised by the awesomness of this game mode. It's really fun to play, even solo, since there's no real skill. Even the lack of players doesn't impact the gameplay much, because you'll still struggle to score.

Gaming PC, right now I'm playing FFXIV, Devil May Cry 5 and other "less demanding" games, but ultimately i want this build to be as future-proof as possible within the budget.

I'm good for keyboard/mouse and I have a HP 34f Curved Display monitor waiting to be used, so id like to make full use of it, also plan on having a dual monitor setup, using an old Samsung S27B350H If that monitor is "too old" I'll need a new monitor, anything that would work as a second monitor.

No plan to Overclock.

A 2TB SSD is all i can really think of right now.

Don't need anything flashy, pref. black, as long as all the parts fit inside.

I've heard mixed reviews about Windows 11 esp. for the gaming side of things, might be misinformed so if anyone knows better, either Windows 10 or 11 depending.

10. Will you be upgrading this PC in the future (ie: will you swap out better parts later on or will you build an entirely new tower later)? If so, when?

As I mentioned on point #1 I'm trying to get something as future-proof as I can, that being said, I'll most likely try to replace parts (if possible) later on but no clue when that would be.

hi there, lately my PC has been acting really wierd and i need help to hopefully fix it.
first of PC specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT upgraded recently from a Sapphire Radeon RX 5700XT Nitro+ 8g OC HyperX Fury 32GB (two 16gb sticks) ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming Corsair RM 850 80 PLUS fully modular PS. Various new and older SSD's and M.2 SSD's (windows in on a new M.2). 3 monitor setup.
if you can see the pic i posted that screen shows when i try to shut my computer down, first it goes down as normal, but the computer stays on for 3-4 minutes without any screens on, then this screen shows for 2-3 seconds then it shuts down.
i have to restart my computer 2 times for it to function properly when i start it up, if i just start it screens that my mouse cursor is on will turn off, then turn on when the cursor stops moving, then turn off again when i move the cursor.
if i start the computer, but restart it before logging in for the first time the screens turning off dosnt happen. and the PC generaly behaves normaly.
third is that the GPU drivers seem to randomly shut off and restart when i play games, it can happen to the least demanding games or the most. it dosnt matter. but now it has started to happen more frequently when trying to switch focus from a game to one of my side screens by ALT + TABing. often crashing the game im playing and is a general nuisance (was also a problem on the old GPU) .
what am i doing wrong? how can i fix this? any help is mutch appreciated.

Recently for the last 4-5 day's the wifi setting on my ASUS TUF Gaming F15 isn't working properly, well mostly when starting an application such as some random game on steam or another launcher such as riot to discord or evem chrome, the WiFi just stops working, like the option to even access it just disappears. Now it's happening regularly whenever i try to do something like update my driver right now. Had this problem few months back but it stopped after an Windows update but this time its happening constantly, tried to delete the last update but it's still not fixed, i don't even get what's going wrong so that i can try to start looking for a solution. If anybody knows what's wrong or what i can do then it will be very helpful.

I just recently got into 40k and I'm loving it. Well... I'm loving painting the miniatures. It's relaxing and, it helps me manage stress. Plus it's fun as hell. I bought a black templar primaris crusader squad and my wallet has been hemorrhaging money ever since. Once painted, I set my guys up in dioramas or put them on display. This was two months ago. My brother got involved and he wants to try kill team. Not a big army game. Just kill team. Now I don't know if I'm just too smooth brained to get it but, I don't get it. The rules are complex as hell. (I need to have how many dice?). Each miniature has a point number but that changes depending on what weapons they have? There are 3 phases. No there are 4 phases. No 5 phases!?!. I've tried watching YouTube videos of people playing and I felt so lost that I felt like an immigrant at the DMV. One guy rolls 6 dice. The other dude rolls 4. My unit died... WTF JUST HAPPENED? I guess what I want to know is there a book or a video series That explains 40k kill team as if the were trying to teach their grand mother or a 5 year old. Even an app that can help calculate kill teams point totals or something would be helpful

Hello,
I'm looking for a new monitor for productive work (mostly programming with occasional photo editing). Decided to go with 32" because I think it's the smallest 4k size I can go for without having to rely on hidpi scaling under Windows/Linux.
Two monitors that look interesting to me are the BenQ PD3205U and ViewSonic VP3256-4K, But it's difficult to find detailled information on them (general issue I noticed with monitors unless you go for highend or popular gaming devices), especially for the ViewSonic.
Both cost the same where I live (650 Euro), which one do you think is better? Which one is more color accurate?
I like for the BenQ that it has 90W power delivery and a KVM switch, on the other side the ViewSonic gets brighter.
Also I can't find any information on the DisplayPort version used on the USB-C input. Are they 1.2 or 1.4? I would like to be able to use 4k60 and USB 3.0 speeds at the same time.
Some slightly cheaper alternatives that caught my eye are the Dell P3222QE and HP U32, both around 500 Euro but no factory calibration and Lenovo L32p-30 for 300 Euro as the super cheap option. But again, it's difficult to find useful information on the panels.
Would be grateful for any input on why or why not you'd got for any of the listed devices.

Hi all, I never post on reddit, so excuse any mistakes I make/questions I don’t know the answer to! I’m attempting to look into a gaming laptop for the Sims 4 (basically all packs and a few mods) and for Sims 3/Sims Medieval. My Mac has a hard time lately with the Sims 4, and after recently updating it, it no longer supports the Sims Medieval, which really sucks for a broke college kid who just got it (💔). Trying to do my own research I had no idea how to tell what is good/what type of system I need. It’s like a foreign language to me.
So, does anyone have a recommendation for a decently priced laptop to run a few Sims games on? I don’t know how to build or work on computers, so I would need something I don’t really need to mess with. I’m also hoping for something around $500, but if that’s a crazy number at least less than $1000?

I've only played the enhanced versions of 3-5 to the end, and after having played a bit of the original ones, I simply couldn't stick with it. It was such a regression. (Granted 6 will be better than royal most likely, just as 5 was better than golden) I might honestly end up waiting for an enhanced version of 6, because replaying games isn't something I like doing, and I'd like to experience the new story they'll add at the same time as the first one, so everything is fresh.
However, it would be a long, long wait. ≈ 4 years, I think? It's not even a guarantee. They could always go the Pokémon route and start doing story dlc and balance patches instead of releasing a new version, in which case I wasted time holding back. Right now I'm inclined to wait, but what are your thoughts?
