2023.03.21 05:45 re-kidan Im terrible at scary games and decided to give it a go anyways, i think i've discovered something new
Since a kid i was really scared of movies based on terror and jumpscares, and that translated to scary games, the last horror game i remember playing was Amnesia like, 10 years ago.
So, fast forward to today, suddenly from one day to the other my YT is FILLED with Iron Lung videos even though they are from last year, and everyone was praising the game and it was less than an hour long so i thought: ok, i wanna try something new and got it, and ffs i just finished it and im trembling like really hard but way calmer than before, and well, i don't think i'll be able to sleep tonight
the 4 / 5 pictures i got were fairly easy but when i got the picture with the anglerfish, i took another picture with the exact same coordinates and angles again and it wasn't there anymore, that's when i knew i was in for a freaking ride
First time when i teleported i kinda brushed it off, i was so into being scared that i kinda let it go, but when i teleported the second time from the top left picture i geniunely began freaking out, and it was aaaaaall downhill from there.
The game had various moments of having something out there appearing in front of you and going away if you stay still a bit, suffice to say that the eye picture was the final nail in the coffin for me, i just wanted for it to end but i wanted to actually finish the game since i was so close
So i did
So i kinda pissed myself methaforically
To finish what i wanted to explain in the title, i realized im REALLY not into jumpscares, but horror done correctly is an amazing experience as good as having a wholesome moment or having witnessed a great story from your favourite game, it kinda stays with you in an amazing way of "goddamn that was really good", i think it's closely related to the semi horror you find in games like Gone Home, the Suicide of Rachel Foster and even Firewatch, it's really far from what Iron Lung is in a practical level, but the same suspense can be found in all of these games, it's a slow buildup to a final realization, and i love it
To conclude, i've got to say that i thought i'd be emotionally scarred for a long while, and even though tonight i'll sleep with my lamp on, i don't feel like traumatized like when i watched the first video of the Mandela Catalogue (never watched the others, too much for me), it was a special experience in a way, and i loved it as much as im scared of it

I'm currently sitting at home on this lazy Sunday with a light hangover. I definitely deserve it, I put in 120% at work this week and I'm admittedly exhausted.
Hi all! My name is Yuri, I'm a 25 bisexual dude from the US Midwest, specifically North Dakota. Due to it being a small, rural state, dating really sucks for introverted nerds like me. Thus I've decided to peruse the internet, on the search for partnerships and even friendships that can supply me with good times and new experiences!
A little more about me, I'm 5'7" and 160 pounds, fairly lanky and/or frail. I like to go on walks, but don't otherwise exercise a ton (I'm getting better at it, I swear!). Due to allergies and other health conditions, I don't love to do a lot of outdoor activities, but do enjoy leaving my home for events or fun when the situations arise. Otherwise I'm very, very introverted, and do a majority of my hobbies (And even my work, haha.) from home. I'm already done with my education (At least for now?) and basically just do my work and hobbies. I try to be as funny as possible, as I think laughter is really important, and I would say personality wise I'm very balanced! I deal with some mental health issues, though I mostly keep them managed with medication and meditation, and I'm happy to help you with yours as well!
As for my hobbies, my biggest one is video games! Normally I'm playing single player games, mostly RPGs and strategy games. Right now I'm addicted to Octopath Traveler 2 and Fire Emblem Engage, both of which I'm enjoying immensely! I'm a big PC and Switch gamer, and my most played game on PC by far is Terraria. I also play a ton of Pokémon, basically any Pokémon game I've at least touched a little, including romhacks! That being said, I am getting back into Overwatch 2 right now and enjoying it immensely.
Another big hobby of mine is board games and Magic the Gathering. I will likely show you my large board game shelf, and hopefully in the future we can play many together! I will definitely be talking to you about Magic at some points, even if you aren't super into it. Sorry about that in advance!
Outside of those things, I love comedy and horror, especially the dark and macabre stuff. I'm a big fan of ARGs, unfiction stories, and analogue horror, things like Marble Hornets or more recently The Mandela Catalogue. I recently watched The Incantation on Netflix, which I thought was incredible! Recently I've been fixated on two games, Fear and Hunger and it's sequel Termina. I think their stories are both very interesting, and the world is so gritty. My favorite book ever is House of Leaves, which is an incredible horror novel that destabilizes writing as a concept, it's very cool.
I'm looking for someone to indulge in these hobbies with, as well as many other things! Someone to voice chat with on an almost daily basis. I don't mind if you're clingy, I am a bit as well! Just as long as it doesn't reach a toxic level. I'm competitive and would love to challenge each other to things, though I'm not hyper focused on winning. Relationship wise, I'm definitely looking for a life partner!

Among Us RPG: Was made to test out character personalities on an Among Us thing. Actually works alright, considering theres 10 characters for it to keep track of, not including the user.
Ball Guy: Made him as a joke. Won't stop giving me pokeballs or breaking into my house.
Beantown RPG: It's fine. The weird names might have confused it a bit, but it did a good job of expanding the lore.
Camp Camp RPG: Kinda broken. A thing I have with most of my RPGs is that there's a secret mode you can only find out about by looking at the character settings. The thing is kinda stuck on the secret mode and I can't figure out how to get it out of it.
Cici (OC): A good AI, but outdated. The character has changed A LOT since I made them.
Creepypasta Dater: THIS SHOULDNT WORK AS WELL AS IT DOES.
Creepypasta Writer: Does a good job at laying groundwork for a creepypasta, from what I've done with it.
Deep Dish Gang Guy: Kinda bland. Somehow got 1.6k interactions. IDK, don't ask me.
Eg: Acts scarily close to me. Like, exact same personality, when I barely put any of it in.
Endless Ikea: My newest one, so I haven't gotten to test it out much. It's.. Alright.
Felix Kranken: Made to recreate an old RP on my older account that I lost the password to, has been collecting dust since.

Originally had a really confusing formatting that the AI couldn't really grasp, not sure if it's changed naturally or not. [just checked, it looks like it has naturally changed it, which im thankful for, because i cant be bothered changing it now lol.]
Virtual Boy: My newest non-RPG character. Has a nice mix of silly fluff and horror.
Warren -MY AU-: Another DHMIS character thing. He won't stop crying.

Like there’s the (admittedly very creepypasta circa 2007) premise of a video game that’s haunted/has a demon/world inside it, the…fucking uncanny art design of the whole game (seriously the entire game shifts designs and tones like 6 times over the game), plus the idea of a soul tossing bodies aside is basically just that Mandela Catalogue thing the Zoomers can’t get enough of (I’m being a bit of a knob about this).
